22 January 2010 - Israeli Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Limited (NASDAQ: TEVA) said yesterday that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted tentative approval for its Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) to market its generic version of Novartis' (VTX: NOVN) breast cancer treatment Femara (letrozole) Tablets, 2.5 mg.

The company added that final approval of its Letrozole Tablets is expected upon expiry of patent protection for the brand product in June 2011.

The brand product had annual sales of approximately USD556m (EUR393.8m) in the United States, according to IMS sales data.
